Pictures soon

Just finished proofing pictures for Nightshade (custom order, roving by Pigeon Roof Studios), Agate (Sakina Needles), Pansies (Briar & Brambles) and Sarah's Window (Spincerely Yours). I'll try and watermark them and have them uploaded tonight.

I also have more pictures of Bioluminescence and Crabapple too. I finished plying I Feel Free (Crown Mountain Farms). Again, I'm having a hard time photographing true to color (blues/greens). I'll try it later tonight.

All the handspun above, except for Bioluminescence, is from my last week of Tour de Fleece spinning. I think in total I've spun about 3 to 3.5 pounds of fiber.

Hop on over to see what Marianne has made with the Bumble Bee BFL handspun she bought from me. Have fun looking!

Spinning

I bought a spindle and some roving at the Great Lakes Fiber show in 2006. I tried & failed spindling miserably. The yarn broke all the time, the spindle kept dropping and my kids were laughing at me.

While at Knitters Connection, 2007 I saw Jacki teaching Dianne and I was inspired. I got home and kept trying. I finally conquered the spindle. By then, the spindle was too slow for me. I researched about spinning wheels and decided on the Lendrum without trying nor taking wheel spinning lessons. It's now a year since I first started. I've come a long way.

Since last year, I have taught both my daughters how to knit, spin on a spindle and a wheel. They have come a long way too. I'm proud to pass on this craft on to them.

My collection

I've finished uploading pictures of all my Pigeon Roof rovings to its' own set on Flickr. I still have to watermark pictures of Crabapple. Hopefully, I'll be able to do that sometime today. I'm loving ScribeFire. It's a Firefox add-on and I can blog without logging into Blogger.

Freya 2 & Ilmatar

Freya 2 & Ilmatar have been added to Etsy. Enjoy.

One Picture Only

I was able to capture one picture of Bioluminescence that is true to colors. I'll try again tomorrow. Or use the tungsten white balance tonight.

I'll be adding Freya 2 & Ilmatar to Etsy at around 9pm ET.
The low twist single that I spun is called Crabapple (100% merino). It's not lace/fingering weight like I thought. It's actually thick and thin. I'll post the specs after I've upload the images to Flickr. Here's a peek.

Later then.

Bioluminescence

I'm not having any luck with Bioluminescence. The blues are too pale. Below is a picture of the roving.

I blog this post initially via ScribeFire and my picture wasn't right. Now it's better. Some of the Pigeon Roof Studios rovings on my photostream. If anyone wants to custom any roving, please use the contact form on the right or email me.

  2. Ilmatar - Pictures proofed and need to be watermarked. Yarn drying. Pictures and specs will be posted soon.
  3. Bioluminescence - No pictures and twist not set. My camera is having a hard time capturing the blues/greens/yellow in this yarn. I'll post again about it.
  4. Crabapple - low twist singles. I was aiming for a thicker yarn but looks like it will be around lace/fingering weight. Pictures will be taken after twist has been set. I don't want the yarn to fall apart on me while I'm taking pictures.

I just finished plying Vintage (Pigeon Roof Studios), Bioluminescene (Sakina Needles), Ilmatar & Freya (Spincerely Yours). This is also my Tour de Fleece spinning from July 16 till July 20. I better hurry and take pictures of them as we suppose to have pop up showers for the next 3 days. I'm going to try and spin some low twist singles tonight. Look forward to an update sometime this week. I'll blog about it as soon as the yarns dry. Keep an eye out for pictures and specs too. Enjoy the rest if the weekend.

Latest Handspun Yarn Added To Etsy

Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Chloris and Somewhere Over The Rainbow 2 have been added to Etsy.

Left to Right: Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Chloris and Somewhere Over The Rainbow 2.

I've finished spinning the Forest Afternoon batt from Miss Babs. Iris is still not finished and on one of the other bobbin is a superwash Merino/Seacell blend from Dianne of Creatively Dyed Yarn.

I'm not spinning as much as I'm helping M1 bead. She wants to be a vendor this fall at her school's craft fair. I've been crimping wires on earrings for her. Unfortunately or fortunately, we're out of supplies at the moment.

Have a good and safe Independence Day.

Here's a swatch for Tempest. I'm using superwash merino sock yarn from Fearless Fibers. The darker yarn is called Chocolate Pink Cherry (will be the main color) & the other is Infatuation (the coordinating color). M1 helped in choosing the colors.

I have 3 pictureless WIPs. They are a poncho for M1, a sweater for M2 and Lizard Ridge (project while waiting for swim lesson to end) for the sofa. I'll try and take pictures soon.
