No pictures yet

Didn't get a chance to upload pictures from NYC. Last night was International Night at the kids school. We didn't go as M1 has a test this morning plus both of them have belt test later in the evening. Still going over the terms with them.

I'm not available for shipping this Friday or Saturday. Any purchase made during this time will be mailed on Monday. I've added more handspun yarn to the clearance section. Hope you find some goodies. Talk later. Ta ta.

Resting my knee

I did walk a lot around NYC on Wednesday:
  1. Grand Central Station to 3rd Ave and back
  2. Strand Bookstore
  3. Around Washington Square Park
  4. Back to the Consulate
  5. from 43rd to Central Park , around & about the park
  6. Around Flushing's Main St
My left knee started hurting on Thursday. I was hobbling around and I still want to visit the NY Metropolitan Museum of Arts. While I was at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts, I had to take pain meds in order to continue with my visit. Long story short, I could barely walked to the baggage claim area after getting off the plane. The pain was excruciating and I felt something clicking in my knee. I have no idea what I did to my poor knee.

After 2 days of ice or hot water bottle, it seems to have healed up a bit. The knee is still stiff and stings with it's at a certain angle. I'm staying off spinning till it's better. I'll still be adding yarn to Etsy. Talk later.

P/S - I'll post some pictures later.

I'm back

Arrived back home late last night. The plane was queued on the tarmac for an hour. It's a lot shorter that what others had gone through. The weather was great on Wednesday but outright nippy on Thursday. I don't think the temp went above 60. I didn't realize I captured 300 image files in 2 days. I'll go through them and post them.

This weekend is A Wool Gathering. It's located at Young's Dairy. It will be a fun weekend as there will be fibery goodies, miniature golf and ice cream. I'll be busy prepping the kids karate terms fo theri test and catching up on chores. Will pop in later. See ya. Ta ta.

P/S - Didn't get a chance to knit on my socks. Busy taking photographs, browsing and eating.

Mug shot

Here's the mug shot that I went for yesterday (I looked sleepy/tired). I was propositioned by the photographer. I'm flattered but just awkward. I would have left if the photo was not taken yet. I was waiting for the photo to be printed when he started laying it on(TMI). Once I had photos in my hand I got out of there ASAP but it turns out that I need 3 copies of the photo. So I have to go back later to pick up another set of 2. Wish me luck.

Anyway, Happy Birthday to Gram(good thing I talked with her earlier as I ran out of minutes on my phone card while talking with my mother last night. Note to self - pick up lots of phone cards while in NYC, especially the ones that will allow me to make calls to Australia too) and Hugh Grant, today. And Happy Birthday to Hubster tomorrow. He'll be 4(x=10/2). I'm being sneaky as I'm not supposed to mentioned his age. He's touchy. I asked him what size cake to purchase and he barked out no cake. I think it's because whatever ice cream/candy/pie/cake that's brought into his house will be eaten by him and the kids. I rarely touch them, only once in a blue moon. Sugar and I are not friends as it makes me sleepy.

I'll be away from Sept. 15-17. Any purchase made during this period will be shipped on Sept 19. M2 has started missing me. She slept with me this past weekend. M1 is missing me too - asking about my flight details. I did contact my dad's cousin, so she's my 2nd cousin, right? She said she'll go with me to the Consulate. I'm grateful that I have someone to go with me but I wanted to use this time to clear my head. I don't think I'll be able to totally empty it. Hoping to calm it. My mind is just like a vacuum cleaner. Any suggestions on where/what to see in NYC? We went to Rockerfeller, Times Square, Natural History Museum & Radio City the last time we were there.

I added a link to my resume on the sidebar. I'm looking for a work from home/part-time position. If any of you know of any openings, please let me know via the email on the resume. More yarn will be added later tonight. See ya.

Happy Labor Day

Just a shout out to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day. Travel safe. Heads up - I've finally finished uploading pictures of all new handspun to Flickr. I'll add them soon. Have a great weekend.

I didn't realize I cracked a joke

Last night I walked over to the microwave to make some tea and saw a pile of clothes on M1's school bag. I said loudly towards the living room 'Where did all these clothes magically appeared from? (I think there were 3 or 4 long sleeves top & it seemed M2 is in part of the scheme too)
M1: They are mine. I used them for layering during the mornings for school.
Me: Why are they still on top of your bag in the kitchen? Do you think the clothes will magically be washed & put away?
M1 & M2 came into the kitchen, scooped up the clothes, and said to me laughingly - 'Mum, you know clothes don't get clean magically nor do they fold themselves'.

I noticed that recently, the kids are developing a sense for dry humour. I wasn't trying to be humourous though. Kids.....

Happy Birthday, Grandma

Update: Just got off the phone with Gram. No relatives there at all. Just Gram, not even my parents. All of them went out shopping and I talked with her for half an hour. My uncles will arrive in the afternoon, which will be my bedtime. And Gram said that Stuart will be there. Too bad I'm not. Miss all the relatives, camaraderie and food.

My paternal grandmother's birthday is on Sept 9 this year(based on the lunar calendar). I've been busy catching up with my mum on my Gram's birthday bash, which is on Saturday. She'll be 87. All of Gram's children will be back for the bash. Some of her grandkids - me being half way across the world, Shaun, Simon and Stuart are working and some busy with school, will not be attending. I did call last night to talk with her but she's too busy catching up with my aunts and their husbands. I'll call again tonight to catch up with my other relatives. I'll call Gram on the 9th so that she'll have more time to chat.

She used to chat for five minutes & asked me to get off the phone. Now, she talks for about half an hour. She's a proud and stubborn lady. She rarely complains & when she does, it's a serious matter. When she told my mum that she has to wait 30 minutes before she can get off her bed in the morning, I know that her legs are bothering her much. Anyway, off with my rant. Below is a picture of blooming sweet autumn clematis, vining on my neighbor's rusty fence.
Happy Birthday, Gram.

I have to renew my passport. After calling a couple of Consulates, I found out that I can go to NYC and have it renewed in person. I don't have to send my papers to the Consulate in DC and they in turn, send them back to Malaysia with a turn around time of 3 to 6 months. At the moment, I'm trying to get my papers and schedule line up to go to NYC. I hope that the machine is in working condition when I go to the Consulate. Hubster said that he can take his furlough days to look after the kids. And the kids are upset that I'm going without them. I'll post a notice on Etsy and the blog when I know for sure.

I have been on hiatus from sock knitting for a couple of years. I have 4 pairs on the needles. Below is a picture of the first pair since my hiatus. It's M2's Halloween socks. I have 2 more pairs to be finished soon - just have the cuff to go. The last pair, I'm trying to knit short row heel and am having a tad of problem with the instructions.
I still have to seam up the kids Einstein coats from last fall. Hopefully, I seamed them up before the nippy temp hit us full force. Gotta run now. Have to catch the relatives before they all head out for the big lunch celebration. Ta ta for now. Talk later.
