Homemade Spindles

I found this 2 whorls at my local bead shop. I decided to try my hand at making spindles out of them. They spin very thin yarn and will be good for silk. I noticed that the whorl will spin back on itself if the fiber is not drafted quickly. I have plenty of pictures of sneak peek yarn on Flickr. Go on over on take a look.

Lucky Charm, Technospindles and dagger of icicles

I was finally able to take some good pictures of Lucky Charm without having to adjust the colors through Photoshop. All I did was just watermarked the pictures.

Here are pictures of the Technospindles that I bought from One Planet Yarn & Fiber. They are CD spindles that are decorated to look like a kaleidoscope. It's pretty cool to watch while spinning.It's a tad heavier and spin as long as the CD spindle that I made for myself. I made myself 2 more spindles that I want to share. I'll try and take some pictures tomorrow.

Below is a picture of the dagger of icicles that were pointing towards my kids window. I took a broom and knock them off just to be safe.
I have some singles to ply but most probably the handspuns will not be ready till sometime next week. Kids are on spring break so I have to make sure that they do not get into any mischief and keep them busy.

BTW, I still have Audacity in corriedale (Audacity in masham - sold) in the store. $10 from the sale of this yarn will benefit the Obama campaign.

Finally I was able to take some pictures of Snow Squall and Snow Squall 2 that are close to true color. Snow Squall has more teal than Snow Squall 2. Snow Squall 2 has more dark blue on it. They are not as gray as the pictures shown. I decided to spin it into sock/lace weight so that it can be knitted up into shawl. This yarn is not for next to skin wear. It feels just like Lopi yarn. I'll try and add Snow Squall and Snow Squall 2 to Etsy tonight. I'll update if I do so.

Tie Dye, Cowgirl Chic and Audacity(Masham) are drying now. More updates when they are ready.

Neptune has been added to the store. I finished plying Audacity in Masham, Tie Dye (superwash merino) and Cowgirl Chic (merino). I'll take pictures of them and set the twist tomorrow. Still no good pictures of Snow Squall. Ta ta then.

Walking On The Sun & Purple Haze - added
